TREKKING ROUTE NO. 2

MANALI(2050M)-DARCHA(3400M)-SHINGO-LA(5090M)-PADAM(3650M)-(9 DAYS)

1st Day : Manali-(2050M)-Darcha(3400M)...8 to 9 hours drive (145 km)
Trekkers

Road leaves Manali and climbs upto the (3980M) Rohtang Pass and then winds down into the Lahaul Valley. After leaving Keylong (3347 M), the road winds through extensive fields and occasional villages, along the river Bhaga. Camp set up a little before the village Darcha.

2nd Day : Darcha-Chhalang Topko(3580M)-Ramjak(3750M).... 8 to 9 hour, 16 km
First follow the track upto last hamlet and there after well defined footpath. Pas a spectacular gorge to reach Chhalang Topko. Ascend the valley on your right side. There are good but hard paths on both sides of the stream. Now arrive at the small meadow- Ramjak for night halt.

3rd Day : Ramjak-Shingo -la(5090M)-Lakong(4450M)... 8 to 9 hours, 14 km
From Ramjak, reach Zankar Sumdo (around 4 hours). For another 1 1/2 hours follow zig-zag path, after passing through flat land, upto Shingo-la (5090M). A good view of Gomborangoo available from a small plateau. Either camp here or go ahead, another one hour for camping at Lakong (4450M).

4th Day : Lakong-Kurgiakh (4000M)...6 to 7 hours, 12 km
Bicycle Trek

Passing beneath the face of the Gomborangoo, descent easily towards Kurgiakh(4000M) on the right bank. Either camp at Kurgiakh or continue for another 2 hours upto Table.

5th Day : Kurgiakh/Table-Purne(3745M)...5 to 6 hours (10 to 12 km)
After half-an-hour from Table is Tanza, on the right bank, now cross infront of a narrow gorge and arrive at the junction where the trekking route from Darcha(via) Baralachala and joins.
Route No.1. Tanza is a small village with a gompa in ruins on higher elevation.
